Commission a Pet Portrait Painting
Celebrate your special pets with a custom, oil on canvas portrait. Every stroke is lovingly rendered by hand (not computers), creating a unique, one-of-a-kind masterpiece that will be treasured by your entire family for years to come. These meticulously crafted, lovingly rendered portraits are created by artist Simon Saldarriaga from start to finish. Unlike many Pet Portrait companies who have various artists working for them, we assure you that Simon’s special touch and signature will be on every portrait he takes on. Simon will ensure that the painting embodies the spirit of your four legged family member. He is certain to capture the character, charm, & individuality that each animal manifests in each of his paintings. Whether the portrait is for yourself or a gift, there is no better way to immortalize the lives of our furry family members than by having a vibrant, true to life portrait painted by one of the finest, most dedicated artists around.
Choosing A Canvas Size
The first step is for you to decide where you would like to hang your treasured painting, measure the area, and you will get a good idea of the size painting you want. Please inquire about bespoke sizes, as can always customize canvases to match your dimensions.
Choosing A Photograph
You may already have a favorite picture of your pet that you would like to have painted. If the photo is only in paper form, you can scan it, save it, and upload it. If not, it’s OK! If you live within the Los Angeles area, we would be happy to visit you and your beloved to take the photo ourselves. Otherwise, you can take some digital photos and email them to us. The higher the resolution, the better!

Tips for taking good photos of your pet
It is important that the photo(s) you send are clear images of your pet. The best lighting is natural light, outdoors in the early morning or late afternoon. If possible, avoid mid-day bright light as it creates harsh shadows and washes out the color of your pet. Try to get on your knees to take photos at or near eye level of your pet. It is best to take some up close shots, as well as some full body shots. Try to keep your hand steady when taking the photograph – avoiding movement will help keep the image crisp and clear. If your pet is light, try to have a darker background. If your pet is dark, try having a lighter background. This will help your pet stand out from the background. Don’t worry if you can see the leash or other objects behind your pet – we can always remove them from the final painting. Just try not to have any large items blocking the body/ face of your pet.
